This well known popular classic was first created in the 1940’s by Italian immigrants to America, specifically as a pizza topping. It is less sweet and firmer than Calabrese with a noticeable kick of Chilli. The ‘Pepp’ goes well with almost any type of cheese, mozzarella is the best way to pair it with it. Cheeses such as cheddar, fontina, goat, parmesan, swiss, and white cheddar are also good options. Try it on a sandwich, on a cheese board, on top of potato bake or stuffed into mushrooms of course try it sliced onto your favourite pizza. It's a family favourite.
